Villa Montecatini is inserted in the foothills of the valley of Lucese, characterized by mountains and hills of the Mount Prana, which are arranged in a radial pattern around the underlying valley of Camaiore. The valley was already inhabited during the Roman era and later developed as a result of the traffic produced by the Via Francigena. The Via Francigena is the most important street of Italy medieval because it was a link between the points of the great Christian spirituality: Canterbury, Compostela, Rome and Jerusalem. For places crossed by his path, the phenomenon of pilgrimage socio-economic importance that goes beyond mere religious aspect, in fact along the way developed villages, churches, abbeys and cathedrals that represented places of encounter and exchange cultural and commercial. |
